This central Buckhead neighborhood was founded in the late 1920's when real estate developer Eugene V. Haynes began subdividing his estate. Many of the first homes built north of Peachtree Battle Avenue were constructed on large double lots in 1926 to 1927, while the south side of the neighborhood was developed later, in the 1930’s and 1940’s, and tended to be on smaller lots. The neighborhood holds substantial historical significance, as the site of the Battle of Peachtree Creek during the civil war in 1864. Today, residents of Haynes Manor enjoy access to Atlanta Memorial Park, which borders Peachtree Creek on the south side of the neighborhood and includes Bobby Jones golf course and Bitsy Grant Tennis Center. Haynes Manor also includes Woodward Habersham Park, a densely forested conservation greenspace, north of Peachtree Battle Avenue.
