| Historic Inman Park is Atlanta’s first planned community and one of the country’s first garden “suburbs”, developed in the 1880s by entrepreneur Joel Hurt. Hurt also formed one of the nation’s first streetcar systems to connect Inman Park to Downtown Atlanta. The trolley route ended at the Trolley Barn, which still stands today on Edgewood Avenue, a block from the Inman Park MARTA station. During the last weekend of April every year, Inman Park hosts a neighborhood festival featuring a street market, parades, live music and more. The Festival centerpiece is the Tour of Homes, featuring turn-of-the-century Victorian Painted Ladies and Craftsman bungalows, original contemporary designs and loft conversions. Inman Park residents also enjoy pedestrian access to the shops, restaurants and pubs of Little Five Points. |
